Section C03 of the Route 26/I-99 project is the 3.9-mile portion of new highway between Rock Road and Route 144. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College was the contractor.

The section was bid in January of 1999 and awarded at a bid price of $47.5 million. Work began in March of 1999, with much of the construction done across property owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. New interchanges also were  built at Route 150 (Benner Pike) and Shiloh Road, and portions of Shiloh Road and Benner Pike were reconstructed.

The project includes 11 bridges, including the new Shiloh Road Bridge over I-99/Route 220 and the bridges over Bricker, Rockview and various prison roads, and more than six miles of ramps.

A new access road to the Benner Spring Fish Hatchery was opened in October 2000.

See the Route 26 traffic page for traffic alerts and current construction activity. To select another individual construction area, choose a section from the navigation bar at the top of this page.
