Traffic uses the new Northern Lewistown Bypass

Traffic patterns:

The full Route 22/522 Northern Lewistown Bypass, Mifflin County, opened in October 2006, with the opening of the full Industrial Park Road Interchange. Those who have not used the Bypass since that opening may find the following information useful.

Eastbound

·        All eastbound traffic (from areas such as Mount Union, Huntingdon County, and McVeytown in Mifflin County) now proceeds directly from Route 22/522 onto the new Route 22/522 Bypass.

·        To access the Mifflin County Industrial Park, Business Route 22 and downtown Lewistown, eastbound traffic should exit the Bypass via the Industrial Park Road Interchange.

Westbound

This is the new interchange intersecting with Industrial Park Road

·        Westbound traffic destined for the Industrial Park Road Interchange from the Electric Avenue Interchange now exits to the right to a new off-ramp.

·        Westbound through traffic from the Electric Avenue Interchange continues to flow on the Northern Lewistown Bypass mainline as it has since the mainline was opened to traffic in late 2005.

Local

·        There is a new, signalized intersection at Industrial Park Road for local traffic in the Airport Hill Road and Mifflin County Industrial Park areas to use to access the east and westbound Bypass or Business Route 22.
